BIOGRAPHY

Tennessee WOMAN

SARAH BAKER

Sarah Baker is a "blue-eyed soul" singer, songwriter, composer and pianist who has landed international radio airplay and performed on concert stages with legendary artists ranging from Etta James to Tom Petty.

The Northern California artist performs soul-blues music with a rock edge, offering hints of Melissa Etheridge, Sheryl Crow, and Susan Tedeschi. Her vocals have been described as soaring, gritty, tantalizing and unforgettable. Her songs, instrumentals and lyrics reflect the soulful heartbeat of Memphis and Muscle Shoals, the Southern vibe of Nashville, and the rock 'n' roll free spirit of Woodstock.

Sarah grew up surrounded by gospel, blues, country, bluegrass and rock 'n' roll in a West Tennessee working class family. She began piano lessons at age 6, often accompanying her father to country churches for all-day singings. She studied briefly after college at University of Memphis, moonlighting at Beale Street clubs, and absorbing the influence of Stax and Sam Phillips.

She later performed in New Mexico with the theater troupe The Kaleidoscope Players, the band Mother Fox, and a group mentored by actor Dennis Hopper called Dolly and The Lama Mountain Boys. She signed briefly with London Records before launching a successful career as a solo independent artist.

Cuts from her "Sarah Baker" album have received extensive radio airplay around the world, climbing various Gavin record charts. Her Zydeco tune "Use It Or Lose It" climbed into the top-five in southern Louisiana. Sarah's newly released album, "Baker's Dozen,”  her third, includes blues rock swagger tune, “Revolving Door Man,”  and the empowering rhythm ballad "Build That Bridge.”

She has performed at noted venues including the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, the Portland Blues Festival, and the Troubadour in Los Angeles.

Sarah is expanding into film and television by composing music for “I Married the War," a documentary about the spouses of war veterans, and working on a memoir.

The artist is managed by Katrina Markarian of Segue Entertainment and Firenze Records. To book Sarah for an upcoming recording, concert, television or film project, send an email inquiry to Katrina@segue-ent.com To hear her recordings, click below! Follow her :
