As a vocalist and keyboard player, Sarah Baker’s background of southern music comes through all her playing.  Born into a musical family in Tennessee, her upbringing half-way between Memphis and Nashville insured an ear for originality in her music that crosses genres and defies categories.

Trained in opera, she tuned in during the sixties to her childhood love of blues, rock, and country, joining a rock band in Taos, New Mexico, Dolly and the Lama Mountain Boys.  The band moved to San Francisco, where Sarah landed a recording contract with London Records.

With her bands, Sarah has performed throughout the U.S. at clubs, fairs, and festivals, and in concert with artists Charles Brown, Lou Rawls, John Lee Hooker, Etta James, Taj Mahal, Maria Muldaur and many others.  She has recorded two albums for Firenze/Venus, one, a self-titled album consisting of original songs, and Maybe Someday, a collection of delta blues that features Indiana Slim and Charlie Musselwhite.

With the band WBBH, she played keyboards and sang on an album with Peter Welker, Tim Haggerty, and Michael Barclay.

Currently, she is a vocalist and keyboard player for Nancy Wenstrom’s Blues Kitchen.
